Prepare to find a new route this weekend.

The Texas Department of Transportation announced that crews will close Interstate 69 at Loop 610 near The Galleria at 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14 to begin construction on another ramp.

DRIVE SAFE: I-45 ranks as the most dangerous road in the country

All northbound and southbound main lanes of I-69 from Loop 610 to South Rice Avenue will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17. The ramps from Loop 610 to southbound I-69 and from northbound I-69 to northbound Loop 610 will also close.

The closing will allow workers to place beams for a new I-610 north ramp to I-69 south.

TxDOT says drivers can expect delays and may want to find alternate routes this weekend.
