3 p.m. Aug. 25
Barbers Hill ISD
Barbers Hill schools will be closed Wednesday through Friday. Monitor bhisd.net for updates.
Crosby ISD has canceled all classes, including virtual, Wednesday through Friday.
Harmony Public Schools
Harmony is canceling classes for all Houston-area schools and Harmony Science Academy-Beaumont Wednesday and Thursday. Harmony Science Academy-Beaumont classes will also be canceled Friday.
All Houston ISD facilities and offices will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Pending road and weather conditions, district facilities are scheduled to reopen Friday. The first day of school is set for Sept. 8.
Food distribution at apartment complexes as well as curbside pickup have been cancelled for Thursday and Friday. Food distribution with the Houston Food Bank at NRG Stadium originally scheduled for Friday will take place Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.
Lamar CISD is canceling in-person and online classes Wednesday through Friday. Extracurricular activities are also canceled.
New Caney ISD
New Caney ISD will be closed Thursday and Friday. Online classes are cancelled and all facilities will be closed.
Pasadena ISD released students and staff early Tuesday and will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. A decision regarding Friday will be made by Thursday afternoon.
“Although the area within Pasadena ISD is not forecasted to be significantly impacted by rain until late Wednesday night, our district includes employees, families, students, and others who will need to make preparations for this storm,” the district wrote on its website.
St. Anne Catholic School-Houston
St. Anne Catholic School-Houston will be closed to in-person and online learning Wednesday and Thursday. A decision regarding Friday will be made later in the week.
2 p.m. Aug. 25
Houston Baptist University
All classes have been moved to online instruction Wednesday through Friday. Wednesday’s opening convocation will be rescheduled.
University housing will remain open, and the Baugh Dining Facility will operate under its normal schedule. Visit hbu.edu/about-hbu/hurricane-laura-updates for other updates.
Alief ISD online instruction, virtual offices & facilities will be closed Wednesday through Friday.
“Meals will not be served while the district is closed,” the district announced on its website. “For the latest updates, please visit the Alief ISD website, Twitter or Facebook.”
Conroe ISD schools and offices will be closed Wednesday through Thursday. Online classes are canceled as well.
“The District will communicate instructional plans for Friday, August 28, after assessing the storm’s impact on Thursday,” Conroe ISD wrote on Facebook. “Updates will be posted on www.conroeisd.net as well as our social media pages.”
Klein ISD will be closed Wednesday through Thursday. A decision regarding Friday will be determined by 5 p.m. Thursday.
Splendora ISD schools and offices will be closed Wednesday through Thursday. Online classes are also canceled.
A decisions for reopening schools Friday will be made by Thursday afternoon.
Spring ISD schools and offices will be closed Wednesday through Friday. There will also be no virtual classes or activities.
All campuses and offices will be closed Wednesday through Friday. All extracurricular activities are canceled as well. The first day of the semester is Sept. 8.
HURRICANE LAURA: Prepare your home for high winds in Houston as Laura strengthens
1 p.m. Aug. 25
University of Houston
UH announced that all classes and services will move online Wednesday through Friday ahead of Hurricane Laura. Research and other essential personnel will have limited access to campus Wednesday and Thursday.
“While tracks may shift, the University of Houston, including UH at Katy and Sugar Land, will move instruction and services to online Wednesday, Aug. 26th through Friday, Aug. 28th,” the university said on its website. “UH will continue to provide updates, including adjustments to Friday campus access or to the academic calendar, as warranted through the UH Alert system, www.uh.edu/emergency.”
University of Houston-Clear Lake
University of Houston-Clear Lake, including Pearland and Texas Medical Center locations, will close starting 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug 26. At this time, all online and in-person classes and activities are cancelled through Friday.
All classes and activities starting after 5 p.m. Tuesday are canceled. The main campus, McNair Campus, and Liberty Center, will be closed Wednesday through Friday.
12 p.m. Aug. 25
Anahuac ISD will be closed Tuesday through Friday.
“The safety of our staff and students is our top priority,” the district wrote on its website. “Please continue to check email, texts, our website, news stations, and our Facebook page for updates.”
Classes are canceled Wednesday through Thursday, including online classes.
“We will continuously update you on any changes under the District News on the AISD website, on the AISD Facebook page, and through our mass callout and email notification system,” the district wrote on its website.
Clear Creek ISD
Clear Creek ISD is planning early dismissal at 12 p.m. Tuesday and will be closed Wednesday through Thursday. A decision regarding Friday will be made on Thursday.
Cleveland ISD classes are cancelled Wednesday through Friday.
Danbury ISD is releasing students and staff early Tuesday. All schools and offices will be closed Wednesday through Friday.
Dayton ISD is cancelling all classes and after school activities Wednesday through Friday. Information will be shared through the district’s website, Twitter and Facebook pages, and channels 2, 11 and 13.
Dickinson ISD is releasing students and staff early Tuesday. All schools are closed Wednesday through Thursday. Online classes are cancelled as well.
East Chambers ISD
Students are not required to log on for online classes until the storm threat passes.
“Now is the time to focus on your family’s safety,” Superintendent Scott Campbell said in a message posted to Facebook. “We will have plenty of time after the storm to figure out next steps on the virtual platform. Assignments that were sent home yesterday or that are subsequently uploaded may be worked on by students at any time each day as they are able and have access.
Friendswood ISD announced that the district will be closed Wednesday through Friday. The following Monday (August 31) will follow the schedule originally set for Aug. 26, the first day of the semester.
Humble ISD is canceling all classes Wednesday through Thursday.
“There will not be on campus/online school so that families can focus on storm preparations,” the district said on its website. “All Humble ISD schools and buildings will be closed until at least August 28. A decision about school on Friday will be announced on Thursday after the storm’s actual impact is known.”
Texas City ISD
Texas City ISD is releasing students and staff early Tuesday. All classes, including virtual, are cancelled Wednesday and Thursday. A decision regarding Friday will be made the day before.
11 a.m. Aug.25
Alvin ISD announced it will close campuses from Wednesday through Thursday. All after-school activities are canceled for Tuesday.
La Porte ISD
La Porte ISD announced beginning 12 p.m. Tuesday, all schools will close through at least Thursday. All district operations, including virtual instruction and extracurricular activities, are suspended.
“The safety and security of our stakeholders is paramount, and forecasts increasingly have us being affected by the storm,” Dr. Walter Jackson, La Porte ISD superintendent of schools said in a statement. “Our early dismissal [of staff] and suspension of instruction and extracurricular activities allow our families the necessary time to prepare for Laura’s arrival.”
All Odyssey Academy campuses located in Galveston, Texas City and El Lago will be closed for both in-person and virtual learning Tuesday through Thursday. Campuses may reopen Friday, officials said.
9 a.m. Aug. 25
Galveston ISD has canceled all on-site and remote classes for the remainder of the week due to Hurricane Laura, which now poses a significant threat to Texas and is expected to make landfall on the Gulf Coast as a major hurricane Wednesday night.
Galveston ISD classes will resume Monday, August 31.
STORM WATCH: Laura upgrades to hurricane strength, looms large over Gulf
The City Of Galveston has issued a mandatory evacuation in preparation of Hurricane Laura.
Brazosport ISD has also canceled virtual and in-person classes Tuesday through Thursday, according to an announcement made on the district’s website.
“The path of this storm has changed several times over the last few days and is anticipated to strengthen,” the statement read. “We encourage everyone to take precautions and use this time to prepare for the potential heavy winds and rain that may impact our area.”
The district announced on Twitter that athletic practices and games will not be held for the rest of the week. Athletic activities may resume Saturday, depending on the storm’s impact.
Huffman ISD announced on Facebook it has canceled classes Tuesday and Wednesday. It plans to evaluate the storm on Wednesday to determine plans for Thursday.
“As you all know, Huffman was greatly impacted by Harvey and Imelda, and we want to allow everyone sufficient time to plan appropriately,” the district wrote in the post.

- Christian Community School Orange: Closed Aug. 24-28
- Deweyville ISD: Campus is closed Aug. 24-28. Students will participate in remote learning.
- Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD: Closed from Aug. 24-28
- Port Neches-Groves ISD: cancelled classes from Aug. 24-28
- Orangefield ISD: Closed from Aug. 24-28
- West Orange-Cove CISD: Closed from Aug. 24-28
- Vidor ISD: Closed from Aug. 24-28
- Legacy Christian Academy: Closed from Aug. 24-28
- Sabine Pass ISD: Closed from Aug. 24-28
