The Houston Rockets and Second Servings of Houston are hosting a “Dinner’s On Us” event Thursday outside Toyota Center where they will hand out free meals.

The contactless drive-thru food distribution will be from 10 a.m. to noon across the street from the Toyota Center at the LAZ parking lot, located at 1317 Austin Street.

Volunteers from the Rockets and Second Servings will distribute 3,500 family-sized dinner boxes, which is equivalent to about 28,000 total meals.

“We know this year has been difficult for a lot of Houstonians,” Rockets community relations director Sarah Joseph said in a press release. “Partnering with Second Servings of Houston gives us the opportunity to serve chef-prepared family meals to those that really need it in these difficult times.”

The food is frozen, chef-prepared meals that will come with Girl Scout cookies and Frito-Lay chips.
