James Harden, Russell Westbrook wear Kobe Bryant gear on 8/24

The Rockets’ James Harden and Russell Westbrook paid respect to Kobe Bryant by wearing his gear to the arena before Monday’s playoff game on 8/24, which has become known as Kobe Bryant Day.

In photos posted on the Rockets’ official Twitter account, Harden is wearing a T-shirt with photos of the Lakers legend that reads “In Memory of Kobe Bryant 1978-2020.” He’s also wearing shorts that read “BRYANT” across the front.

Westbrook wore a Lakers’ Bryant jersey as he showed up to the arena.

Harden took the court wearing his signature Adidas sneakers, but they were purple and gold with the numbers 8 and 24 on the back.

The Rockets play the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 4 of their series at 3 p.m. Monday. Although Westbrook is back to practicing with his teammates, he’s still out with a strained quadriceps muscle.

A 2016 Los Angeles City Council resolution declared Aug. 24 as Kobe Bryant Day. Bryant wore the Nos. 8 and 24 in his 20 seasons with the Lakers.

Bryant died in a helicopter crash in January.
